The business landscape is continuously changing, forcing managers to adjust goals and strategies. In such a volatile environment, business executives must redefine the criteria for a successful and healthy business, be it a large corporation or a small-medium-sized business.

But what elements contribute to the short- and long-term success of a business in the era of rapid digital transformation?

It is accepted that group communication and collaboration are vital for success. It is anything but coincidental that these specific factors are timeless. The only change is the source and tools companies use to improve them as much as possible.

Microsoft Teams is the right tool as it improves communication and collaboration between teams through a unified solution.

One platform, many teams, infinite possibilities

Regardless of the total number of users, Microsoft Teams easily adapts to the needs of every business. Apart from the”classic” features of the platform, such as calls, chat, video-calls, users can create multiple channels, threaded conversations to facilitate their monitoring, and group video-calls (mini-conferences, webinars) with simultaneous participation of up to 250 users. In August (2020), Microsoft introduced the new Advanced Communications add-on, which allows the creation of a live event with a maximum number of 20,000 participants.

Teams belong to the Microsoft 365 family – formerly Office 365 – so it inherits a few features and integrations that transform it into the ultimate collaboration hub. Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Sharepoint, Power BI, Tasks and now Microsoft Lists and many more are integrated into the platform. User groups can share documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and other files, work on them simultaneously and schedule the next action items as they process the files during a video sharing with their screen sharing.

Integration with the Microsoft 365 productivity suite is not the only one. The platform can connect to services outside the Microsoft portfolio using the more than 100 Connectors available. Team users can receive push updates from services such as GitHub, Evernote, MailChimp, SAP SuccessFactors, Salesforce and many more. The friendly API facilitates further integration of services and custom applications with Teams to meet the requirements of every business.

Remote working

Even before the pandemic crisis, Microsoft Teams was a must-have for any business. As an extremely fast and user-friendly digital transformation enabler, the platform helped teams worldwide collaborate more effectively and improve communication levels. With remote work becoming part of everyday life and aiming at users’ practical and social convenience, Microsoft Teams is constantly evolving.

Over the next months, the platform will be enriched with a series of features that aim exclusively to improve remote work by enhancing productivity and the personal well-being of employees in the context of the conditions that most people experience.

Teams will provide the necessary insights to team managers, giving them access to data that will help them identify areas of concern and plan respective changes. At the same time, they will be able to adjust the management methods of tasks and projects to be in line with the specifics that their teams face. At the individual level, platform users will be able to track their productivity insights, through the combination of My Analytics & Workplace Analytics, as well as receive specialized tips for allocating time to tasks, break reminders and suggestions for improving their daily lives.

Teams is one of the fastest-growing Microsoft platforms since its launch in 2017. Proven both in past and current conditions, it is an essential tool for every modern business, regardless of its size.
